Sir Prize the Storm Pony
Braving the Storms of Life

Based on true events in the suburbs of Los Angeles, CA and of Town and Country, MO, Sir Prize's bravery was tested time and again. His multiple moves introduced him to new environments, new training, and in many cases, new emotions - including heartbreak. But after his barn flooded, he had to rely on human friendship and children at an equine assisted therapy program to give him a renewed appreciation for life. But how did Sir Prize handle all of the storms of life, including unwelcomed emotions? For all of the surprises in store for this pony, he earned his knightly name.

Einstein, a young zebra foal from Wisconsin, moved to a new life in Missouri. His wild nature challenged his acceptance of humans and other animals. He had to learn to control his discomfort and distrust using old hanging pants, the wisdom of two tortoises, a confident, small pony, and yes, even humans. It wasn't until he was placed in a wooded haven that he learned what satisfied his wild heart. But how could Einstein embrace the balance between his exotic stripes and love for his special humans and animal friends? An unconventional connection between human nature and mother nature was what this zebra needed.

Hi! I'm Carin Thamke
I grew up on a farm in rural southeast Missouri, where my love for agriculture—and animals—first took root. That early experience shaped both my education and career. I studied Agricultural Journalism at the University of Missouri–Columbia and later moved to the St. Louis area, where I now work in the agriculture industry, focusing on business and IT strategy.
Writing has always been a way for me to connect my professional world with the stories I grew up hearing and living. My books are inspired by real animal experiences and the lessons they quietly teach us—about trust, courage, and understanding.
I’m married and have three children, including two stepchildren. Outside of work and writing, you’ll often find me riding my motorcycle, cheering on my daughter at her musical performances, or relaxing with my family at our cabin. One day, my husband and I plan to return to southeast Missouri, where so many of these stories began.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this writing journey—and to the readers who are just discovering these stories. These books are for you.
— Carin
